Behind every headline is a family, a mother, and a lifetime of love that can never be replaced.
Eshrat Dehghan, one of our volunteers, is a survivor whose life reflects the extraordinary strength of mothers facing unimaginable loss. She endured years of imprisonment, torture, and abuse, yet never lost her compassion or hope.
While imprisoned, Eshrat was held alongside her youngest daughter, Marjan. Together they suffered harsh conditions and relentless mistreatment. After her release, Eshrat faced an even greater tragedy: over the years, she lost three of her children—Mehran, Mondana, and Mohammad—to political violence. Several other members of her extended family were also taken from her.
Despite these devastating losses, Eshrat chose resilience over despair. She has dedicated her life to preserving the memory of those who were lost and to standing beside other families who continue to live with grief, separation, and uncertainty.
Today, her story reminds us that behind every headline is a family, a mother, and a lifetime of love that can never be replaced. She lives in Michigan. Hope Without Borders believes no family should face such suffering alone. Through compassionate support, community outreach, and public awareness, we stand with survivors like Eshrat and with families seeking dignity, hope, and healing.
